Milliken Seeks WCC Trustee Post

Bill is a candidate for a trustee seat in November on the board of Washtenaw Community College. About 13,000 students from 100 countries attend the College, many of whom take advantage of transfer agreements to attend University of Michigan or Eastern Michigan University.

Bill has served on the board of the Washtenaw Community College Foundation for five years. The Foundation has awarded over 10,000 scholarships to students, and awards grants to faculty and students for various innovative learning projects.

As a member of the board of New Detroit he has been working on behalf of Detroit Public Schools to get them re-positioned so the kids in Detroit have a decent shot at an education and a future. This has entailed many community meetings and a number of trips to Lansing to meet with legislators and testify before committees on the merits of rescuing the Detroit schools. Bill believes that Washtenaw Community College is simply the next step in providing opportunities to men and women to become skill-qualified so they can support their families and become contributing members of their communities.

Bill has an extensive history of community involvement. He was a founding director of Ann Arbor SPARK, and served on SPARK’s executive committee for six years. He has also served as board chair of the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce; a director and member of the loan committee of Republic Bank.

He serves with distinction as a commercial real estate broker, managing Ann Arbor-based Milliken Realty Co., and holding a seat on the board of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) – which has 1.2 million members. He was also elected regional vice-president of NAR in 2016. He was named Realtor-of-the-Year by the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors and the Michigan Commercial Board of Realtors.

He graduated from Colorado College, has traveled to all 50 states and is a licensed private pilot.
